Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii' 'Magic Sword' - Native to Africa, these plants are relatively rare and hard to find. Sansevieria makes a great house plant and tolerates most light exposures. If planted outdoors, protect Sansevieria from direct sunlight, and freezing temperatures.  Stiff, upright foliage grows from 18 inches to 4 feet tall. In summertime, Sansevieria produces fragrant white to green flowers. Allow soil to dry out between watering. Sansevieria is drought resistant and does not need water in winter.


All are easy-to-grow, double-duty (indoors or outdoors), exotic-looking plants that thrive on neglect. Sansevierias can be used with equal effectiveness as an accent plant or in mass in planters or beds. If there was ever a bulletproof plant, this is it. Few, if any, plants are as foolproof to grow. Sansevierias thrive on low amounts of water, fertilizer, and light.
  

Sansevieria are succulent plants, and need a well-drained soil. Sansevieria are great and hardy house plants in the United States. A green thumb is not required to grow a Sansevieria. Sansevieria are native to Africa and come in several forms. The plants are commonly known as Snake Plants or Mother in Law's tongue. Sansevieria are extremely long lived plants and can live for generations. They may also function well as cleaners of indoor air, removing harmful pollutants.
